Lighting

Image
Friday 16 March Lighting plays a large role in our film as it depicts the change between day and night in the film, and the characters develop alongside this. We are filming outside in the daylight, so we will not need artificial lighting. The weather is also said to be sunny with minimal cloud and no rain, so this will also help with the natural lighting. For Poppy's introduction, we will be filming in a room that has large windows at the front of the house facing the sun, so it is always well lit. Therefore, we will not be using artificial lighting in these shots. For Bobby's introduction scenes, we will have the help of some natural daylight coming through the windows, however the furnishing in this room is very dark and so, we may need the help of artificial lighting in this case. It will be up to our own judgement on the day as we will need to see how bright or dull it is outside at the time of shooting. For the scenes shot at night time in this same room, we will ...

Testing the Fake Blood

Image
Friday 9 March This evening, I made a small portion of the fake blood in order to know exactly what to do on the day of filming, and to know if it will stain the floor or not. This is the recipe I followed: http://www.instructables.com/id/Washable-Non-staining-Stage-Blood-by-the-Gallon/ Here are some photos of the process: As you can see from the photos, the recipe was a success and easily washed off the tiles where we will be using it with Dettol and kitchen roll.  The improvement I will make to the next batch on the day of filming is to use more detergent or water in order to make it thinner, and to add more brown paint so that it looks more realistic, however not too much as the lighter colour stands out from the dark floor and suits the mockumentary theme better.

Making the Background for the Interview

Image
Tuesday 6 March We are making a background for the interview, which was inspired by First Dates: Our background will be a plain grey wall, on top of which we will stick a heart that we will have made out of coloured card. Here is a sketch of the heart that we will be making over the following week: Wednesday 7 March Today, we began making the heart. We planned to make it out of an A2 piece of card, however the only A2 card available was white. We feel that white would still work on a grey background, so we are going to layer a smaller white heart over a larger white heart. The smaller one will then be covered in cut-up pink and red card to create a mosaic effect. Then, we are going to cut out the arrows from black card. Thursday 8 March Today, we completed the piece and it will be taken home next week in order to be stored with the rest of the prop materials that we have. Here is the finished product:

Survey Analysis

Image
Thursday 1 March We got 24 responses to our survey. 70% were female and these are the age ranges from our respondents: Question 4 This question asked the public what films they have watched and enjoyed in the last 6 months.  The three most popular genres were comedy, action and documentary. Whilst our film is not necessarily an action film, the comedy and documentary is a pleasing result, as it is clear that many ages and genders have watched and enjoyed these types of films. The people that did not watch and enjoy comedy seemed to overwhelmingly be older females (46-55 and 75+), whilst that for documentaries came from the younger population. Despite this, I think that the comedy aspect represents more for our target audience and we can expect to target a young audience. Question 5 This question asked our audience what aspect of a film they felt was most important. Whilst this question may not help in finding out who our target audience is, it will help...
